So what do you need to do? You need to alter what you put into your body. That means you need a different diet. There are numerous studies that prove diet can have an adverse effect on acne prone people. Unfortunate genetics mean you simply cannot eat whatever you want like your friends can.
Avoiding inflammatory foods is key because acne is low grade chronic inflammation. Foods that spike your insulin (blood sugar) levels must be kept to a minimum as well. Vegetable oils and excess sugar are two of the biggest culprits, but there are more.
Having the right diet will get you about 70% clear in my opinion. What else do you need to do?
Exercise. At least 30 minutes a day for 4-5 days a week at the bare minimum. Exercise improves your circulation and removes toxins from your body. It is helpful at normalizing over-active hormones in your body, which is one of the root causes of acne.
